About Matchday
No, but that's where Matchday shines. It's designed for a phone on the touchline. You can also post from home while following a stream or a mate's texts.
Facebook Pages, Instagram (business or creator accounts), X and Threads. Basic includes Facebook, Instagram and Threads. Pro adds X (Twitter), which charges per post.
Yes. Invite coaches, media volunteers or committee members as staff. They sign in with their own account and post through the club's connected channels, and you can remove them any time.
Add your sponsors with their logos and handles. Matchday credits the match sponsor on your updates, and rotates multiple partners across the season on every plan.
Monthly plans have a 12-month minimum term, billed monthly. Annual plans are paid for the year up front and get a month free. You can upgrade or downgrade any time (changes are prorated). If you cancel in the first 12 months, your plan ends at the end of the term and you keep full access until then.
All prices include VAT. Every plan is per team. Basic £12/month: full access for one team (unlimited staff and sponsors, sponsor rotation, player photos and sponsors, AI posts, newsletters) on Facebook, Instagram and Threads. Pro £15/month: everything in Basic plus posting to X (the extra covers X's per-post charges). Elite £20/month: everything in Pro plus premium graphics (player feature graphics with automatic background removal, your own fonts and background images) and priority support. Monthly plans have a 12-month minimum term. Pay annually and get a month free: £132, £165 or £220 a year.
Yes. Add Matchday to your home screen on iPhone or Android and it opens full-screen like a native app, with no app store needed. See Install app.
Create your account, then set up your club step by step: details, crest and colours, teams, squad, social channels, staff and sponsors. You only choose a plan and pay at the end, once everything's ready. Leave at any point and you'll pick up where you left off next time you log in.
Connecting channels
The club owner opens Channels, taps Connect Facebook and signs in with a Facebook account that's an admin of the club's Page. Approve every permission Facebook asks for, then choose which Page Matchday posts to.
Instagram must be a business or creator account linked to your club's Facebook Page. Then the owner taps Connect Instagram on Channels and picks the account. Personal Instagram accounts can't be posted to by any app.
After connecting, Matchday asks which Page or Instagram account to use. You can change it any time on Channels with Change.
Facebook, Instagram and X expire or revoke access when a password changes, an admin is removed from the Page, or permissions are withdrawn. Open Channels and connect it again; nothing else is lost.
Channels publish publicly in your club's name, so connecting and disconnecting them is limited to the owner. Staff can still post to connected channels from the match console.
Match day
Open the fixture from Fixtures (or the big button in the bottom bar on match day), set your line-up, then tap Kick-off (or Tip-off, First ball and so on, as the buttons follow your sport). Goals, tries, cards and subs are one tap each. Matchday writes the post, adds the score and minute, and publishes to your channels.
Yes. After picking the scorer you choose header, penalty, free kick, volley and more, or own goal. It's added to the post, e.g. “No. 9 Jake Edwards with a header”.
Keep the console open; updates are saved on your phone and send when your connection comes back. Installing Matchday to your home screen also helps it start faster.
No. If someone else records the same goal or card for the same player within 45 seconds, Matchday stops the second one and tells you who already posted it.
You can correct the score and events in the console. Posts already published to Facebook or X need to be edited or deleted on the platform itself.
Type a few facts in the console's Update and the AI rewrites them as match commentary, you edit it, then post. It's included on every plan, with nothing to set up.
Yes. On Post, or in the match console under "Use your own photos or video", drop files in, click to browse or paste them. A post can have up to 4 photos or 1 video (MP4 or MOV, up to 95 MB), and they replace the branded graphic. Several photos go out as an album on Facebook and a carousel on Instagram and Threads; videos post as Reels on Instagram. Channel limits: X takes videos up to 2 min 20 s, Threads up to 5 minutes, Instagram Reels 3 seconds to 15 minutes (vertical looks best). We warn you before posting if a video won't fit a channel.
On the Elite plan, Matchday cuts the background out of each player's photo automatically when you add or change it, so the player stands on your graphic in the Player feature layout. It uses the body shot, or the headshot if there isn't one, and takes about 15 seconds. If a photo isn't a clear shot of one person, it's kept as it is. In the player's details you can compare the original and the cut-out, turn the cut-out off for that player, or redo it. Club settings → Branding has the on/off switch and a button to cut out everyone at once.
They pick sensible options for you and keep them up to date. Layout: Automatic (Elite) uses the big Player feature layout for players with a body shot or cut-out, and the round headshot for everyone else. Pattern colours: Automatic match your club colours and follow them if you change them. Photo position: Automatic frames each photo for you (faces stay in shot); drag it in the player's details to set it yourself. Background removal: Automatic (Elite) cuts out new player photos as they're added.
From the team sheet and your substitutions and red cards. Starters play from kick-off, subs from the minute they came on, until they're taken off or the match ends. Pick the team sheet before kick-off (it saves automatically), or add or correct it afterwards: open the match and use Team sheet under the timeline, or the team sheet in Enter result for results added by hand. Stats update straight away.
Squad & fixtures
Admins add players on Squad with their name, number, positions and an optional photo. Player photos appear on goal posts on every plan.
Any sport: paste the link to your fixtures on your club or league website (or Pitchero) under Your fixtures page in Club settings, and we'll read it every morning and keep your fixtures and results up to date. Football, rugby and basketball clubs in senior leagues can also link to our fixture feed. A few sites (FA Full-Time, Play-Cricket) block other websites from reading them, so for those use your club site or add fixtures by hand. You can always add, edit, postpone or cancel fixtures yourself on Fixtures, and your changes and matches you've run live are never overwritten.
On Fixtures, open the match menu and choose Enter result. It records the final score for your results and stats without posting anything.
Yes. Each team (first team, reserves, women's, youth…) has its own account and subscription, with its own squad, fixtures, sponsors, channels and staff. Use Add another team in the account menu or on Teams, and switch between them any time. One person can be on as many teams as they like. You can copy your crest, colours and graphic style to your other teams from Club settings.
Staff & access
Go to Staff & access and invite them by email as a Poster. They can run the match console and post, but can't change billing, branding or channels.
Admins manage the squad, fixtures, sponsors, newsletter and club settings. Posters run the match console and publish. Viewers are for managers who oversee the club. They can see everything (squad, fixtures, sponsors, channels, staff, newsletter and stats) but can't post or change anything. Only the owner manages billing and channels.
Ask them to check spam, or copy the invite link from Staff & access and send it yourself. Invites last 7 days and must be accepted with the same email address.
Billing
The owner can upgrade, downgrade or cancel in Billing. Cancelling keeps access until the end of the period you've paid for.
We email a receipt with the VAT breakdown and a link to the invoice every time you pay. You can also open Billing → Manage billing to see every invoice and update your card.
No. AI-written posts and newsletters are included on every plan. There's no separate account or key to set up.
On the plan step (or Billing) tap Have a code? and enter it. Discounts and trials apply at checkout. Free-access codes switch your club on straight away with no card. When you subscribe later, billing only starts once the free period ends.
Yes. Pay yearly and get one month free (you pay for 11). Switch between monthly and annual on the plan step or in Billing.
Your account
Open your name in the menu → Profile & password. If you've forgotten your password, use Reset it by email.
Staff can delete their account in Profile & password. Owners delete the whole club (and its data) in Club settings → Danger zone. See our Privacy policy.
